Recently, a talented undergraduate student majoring in Supply Chain Management and Industrial Engineering at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Ms. Vouchly Hong, completed our 14-week program at ISI STEEL’s Production Planning team. Join our conversation with Ms. Vouchly, to get her first-hand experiences at ISI GROUP and how her internship helped lay a strong foundation for her future career path.

‍Q: What sparked your interest in applying for an internship at ISI GROUP?

A: “I recognized the potential that ISI GROUP offers. Their member company, ISI STEEL, is a leader in Cambodia’s steel building materials industry and utilizes advanced technology in their operations. I asked my lecturer about the company profile, and they recommended me to apply to ISI STEEL’s Operations Department.” ‍

Q: What was the most rewarding experience you had during the internship?

A: “I had the privilege of acquiring a diverse set of skills that allowed me to not only enhance my technical abilities, but also strengthen my soft skills. Working in the field of production planning, I was able to bring the theoretical knowledge I learned in university to the real-world and gain knowledge in diverse specialties in the operations field.” ‍

Q: How would you describe the working environment at ISI GROUP?

A: “The working environment at ISI GROUP is truly exceptional. It’s a collaborative workplace, and all colleagues readily offered their guidance, feedback and knowledge. This culture of openness helped me learn and broadened my perspective on how different parts of a business collaborate with each other to achieve success.” ‍

Q: How do you think this internship helped shape your career path or decisions?

A: “This internship program went beyond my expectations and taught me to keep challenging myself. The work experience was an important step in my personal and professional development and has been an opportunity to clarify my career goals and gain valuable insights in supply chain management.”
